FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Will UNDR work in my yard?

Yes. UNDR tests are designed to analyze typical soil material from any geographic or geological region. This includes dense clay soils, sandy areas, rich fertile fields, dry dusty lands and everything in between. See our Sampling Instructions for spots people generally test based on what they are looking for.

Each test analyzes only the specific sample submitted and may not represent broader property conditions.

Is UNDR safe for kids?

UNDR can be a great all-family activity, and even supervised little kids can help. It’s important to follow soil sampling instructions carefully to get reliable results.

Never allow kids or pets to play or dig in areas where you suspect toxins or contaminants. UNDR testing does not determine health risks or safety. If you have concerns about soil safety, consult qualified environmental and health professionals before collecting samples or allowing contact with soil.

What if I want to test more than one area?

UNDR Premium and Plus kits allow you to analyze up to two different soil samples for specified components. UNDR basic kits allow you to analyze one soil sample. Please see individual product pages for specific kit inclusions. For larger-scale testing, we recommend purchasing multiple kits. Remember to document where you dig! If you’re not sure which kit(s) to purchase for your needs, contact us and we’ll be happy to help.

Each test analyzes only the specific sample submitted and may not represent broader property conditions.

What should I do if my report shows precious metals, oil or contamination?

UNDR kits are a fun and educational first step in understanding your land. In addition to data about your land samples, your report will include suggestions for reputable resources and ways to find professionals to advise on next steps.

UNDR provides an informational analysis of your specific soil sample only. Results are educational and do not constitute professional geological, environmental, legal, health, or safety advice. UNDR does not determine the presence of economically recoverable deposits, contamination, regulatory compliance, health risks, or property conditions. Consult qualified professionals, including geologists, environmental consultants, and legal advisors, before making any decisions regarding your property.

What makes an UNDR report different from a traditional soil test?

Traditional soil tests are built for agriculture and focus on a small set of nutrients. They tell farmers what to fertilize—not homeowners what they should know.

UNDR reports go much further—testing for over 90 different elements/substances and turning complex data into a clear, engaging, and easy-to-understand visual experience. Instead of just numbers, you get real insight into what’s in your soil sample and why you should care.
